Kindergarten

Well, T-man officially started Kindergarten on August 25. What a day! He was so excited and so proud to FINALLY be going to Kindergarten. He woke up and had breakfast and was quick to get dressed. We took a picture together before we walked out the door.
Then we get to the school. WOW! There were so many parents and kids. It was crazy. Drove around for about 10 minutes just trying to find a place to park. Finally! T-man wanted to walk in by himself, but I wouldn't let him. I had to walk in with him. Once inside, T-man found a place to hang his backpack.

Off to work I went. The day seemed to fly as I thought about what all T-man would be doing through out the day. Then the best email, my boss told me that I could leave at 4 so that I could get T-man and hear all about his first day of school.

P and I get to the school to pick T-man up from the after school program that he is in, and we asked how his day was. The answers were fine and I don't know. I was so disappointed because I wanted to know everything that happened in his new chapter of his life. But, I knew that was not going to happen. The only real conversation that we got out of the kid was, "Oh, man. I forgot my homework." What a way to start the first day of school!

We are now embarking on T-man finishing his second week of school. It has been an adventurous two weeks. On his fourth day of school, he happened to leave his lunch bag in the classroom, so we had to go back and get it. Mrs. N was still at the school and informed me that T-man had refused to practice walking safely in the hall. I could not believe that my child had gotten in trouble at school. So, we had to work on walking safely that night along with his regular homework. Then this week, he got in trouble for talking to loud in the classroom.

All and all, he seems to be liking his new school and his new teacher. He told me earlier in the week that he needed to be at school earlier because he wanted to be the caboose. I asked him what the caboose did and he told me that they get to turn out the light and shut the door to the classroom. Not real sure what that had to do with getting to school early, but I let him think that we are getting there earlier.

As the year goes on, I will try to keep this updated with different little tid bits about the happenings in T-man's world.

Till the next adventure.....

T-minus 28 Days

Yes....28 days till my baby boy will be off to Kindergarten. And for him, it can't get here fast enough. For me, I can just hope and pray that it will slowly get here, but I know that will not be the case.

It seems like just yesterday I was bringing T-man home from the hospital. How can it be possible that it is time for him to go public school? He is so excited. We pass his school regularly to go to P's parents house, and it never fails, we hear from the backseat, "There's my school." He knows the name of the school and everything.

But, in my heart, I know that he is ready. He can spell his name verbally, and he can write it out on paper. He has no problem with his ABC's or his 123's. He can spell Mom, Dad, and with help, he can spell Meme, Papa, Gramy, and PawPaw. He is very smart and yearns for you to fill his little brain with all your knowledge. Let me tell you, spelling words that are 20 characters long for an almost 5 year old takes some thought some times. Besides the spelling, we are doing math. All the time what is something plus something.

I know that I will be ok with him in Kindergarten, it is just the thought that I have a child going off to public school and not daycare.

Until next time.....
