First Day of School

Today officially marks the first day of T-man's first grade year. He was so excited about starting today. He started his morning with a cinammon role and a cup of coffee. (I know, I am a bad mom for letting him have coffee, but he is my child and I was raised the same exact way.)

Then came the brushing of the teeth and getting dressed. What a handsome little man he is!
One quick pic with mom. (He was probably just doing it to make me happy, and it worked.)
One last picture before mom rushes off to work.
I can't wait to hear about his day. I am sure that he won't tell us anything, just like last year, but still, I can't wait! I hope that it is a wonderful day for him today.

WOW! Where has the month gone?

WOW! I was just sitting here thinking that I have really missed this month, well, actually, the whole summer. Where did it go? Could it be that we were just that busy this summer with everything? Here's a little recap of how our summer has been.

We finished up t-ball at the end of May. What a fun time T-man had playing. We had a great coach, and a really great team. We are ready for next year.

In June, we celebrated two friends as they married. T-man was their ring bearer, and he did a wonderful job. The area that the wedding took place was just beautiful.

Also, towards the end of June, a beautiful little girl was born into the family. Miss M graced us on June 25. She is an amazing little girl that is loved by so many people.

July 4th, we spent the weekend in F-town with the family. We had a little party at Grampa's that was a lot of fun. Good to see friends and family come together for a good time.

A few weeks ago, we went to the Guadalupe River for another family weekend. So much fun! All the boys enjoyed learning to kayak. We had wonderful food, and just good family worship time. (Actually, lot's of story telling was going on.)

The rest of the summer was spent with out of town family that came at different times throughout the past 2 and a half months for visits. We spent a lot of time hanging out with all of them drinking, talking, eating, and playing cards.

But, now it is time to get back to reality, and set schedules as school starts in just over a week. T-man is super excited about starting the First grade. He is counting the days down. We still do not know who his teacher will be, but I am sure that whomever he is placed with, will do an excellent job in teaching our eager child. Not only will he be starting First grade, but he has decided that he wants to play soccer again this fall. P and I will be working Aggie home football games as ushers for a little extra spending money at Christmas time.

We have a full Fall coming up, but it is going to be good.

T-manisms

Not much chatter has been going on at our house this week. Not really sure why, but this was an interesting conversation between myself and T-man the other night.

P had a horrible evening Tuesday. He was at a yard mowing when his mower decided to, well for the lack of better terms, take a crap in the middle of the yard. Huge mower, sitting in the middle of, thankfully, his great-aunt's yard, and would not start. So, he had to come-along the mower out of the yard to the street to be loaded back on to the trailer. Then, called a friend to help get the mower up the ramps onto the trailer, so that the mower could be hauled to the repair shop the next day only to be told that a fuse that helps to keep the battery charged had blown.

Back to the story at hand. P swung by the house to eat dinner, and then he was going to run the lawn equipment back out the barn for the night. Before he left, T-man asked his dad to start his shower for him. And away they went. When T-man was finished with his shower, he hollered at me that he was done.

When I got the bathroom to turn the water off, the conversation went a little like this.

T-man: Momma, can we go to Hollywood to see Taylor Swift. (Son is very much infatuated by Miss Swift.)
Me: No, sweetie. We cannot got to Hollywood to see Taylor Swift.

T-man: Well, why not?
Me: Because, Hollywood is too far away from here.

T-man: Well, you know, we can take an airplane there.
Me: Yes, I know, but we are not going to Hollywood on an airplane to see Taylor Swift.

T-man: But I have never been on an airplane, and I want to go.
Me: I'm sorry, T-man, but we are just not going to go. And besides, some day you will ride in a plane. I promise.

The child is too smart for his (or mine for that matter) own good.
