1st Six Weeks
Mrs. S explained the standardize test that they took a few weeks ago. T-man is right on track and can read 30 words per minute. She said this is very good for the first six weeks of school, and will improve as the year goes on. She said that he is a pleasure to have in her class, and he knows to stay away from the kids that do not make the right decisions. (What we say IS sinking in to his little head!)
The report card didn't come home until yesterday, and I already knew what the grades were going to be before it came home because our School District has an online site that parents can log into and see grades and attendance for their children. I happen to be one of those parents that checks on a regular basis. Anyway, I checked the site on Tuesday before our conference with his teacher so that I knew what I was facing. The report card was great except for an N that T-man had in reading. I asked Mrs. S about the N, and she was amazed that I checked the site because she has never had a parent check the site before.
She explained the N and that it wasn't a bad thing. The number grade came out to 72 because of one of their exercised that they did at the very beginning on the year, and non of the kids did very good on it. She showed us that his grades in reading have improved since that first exercise and for us not to worry.
All and all, I feel very comfortable with where T-man is in his learning. even though he is the youngest kid in the class.

What a Slacker
So, I guess I shall ramble on about nothing that is happening in my life. Today, is a wonderful day. Aside from it being Friday, it is also my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday, Momma! I hope that you are having a great day.
T-Man is really enjoying First Grade. He is excited about going to school and learning. He has picked up on so much. He does a little sign language, and read a book to me the other night. My baby is no longer a baby anymore. (Tear.) He really impressed me the other day. We were walking out the door to go to school and work. He turned the tv off from the show that he was watching and said, "Good bye Lilo and Stitch. Good morning to learning." I love that attitude. Why can't we all have that attitude everyday about the goings on in our lives. Because, in a child's eyes, life is perfect. In an adult's eyes, life deals lemons.
Anyhoo....I am just rambling with nothing that anyone cares to read about. I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend.

First Day of School
Then came the brushing of the teeth and getting dressed. What a handsome little man he is!
One quick pic with mom. (He was probably just doing it to make me happy, and it worked.)
One last picture before mom rushes off to work.
I can't wait to hear about his day. I am sure that he won't tell us anything, just like last year, but still, I can't wait! I hope that it is a wonderful day for him today.Thursday, August 13, 2009
WOW! Where has the month gone?
We finished up t-ball at the end of May. What a fun time T-man had playing. We had a great coach, and a really great team. We are ready for next year.
In June, we celebrated two friends as they married. T-man was their ring bearer, and he did a wonderful job. The area that the wedding took place was just beautiful.
Also, towards the end of June, a beautiful little girl was born into the family. Miss M graced us on June 25. She is an amazing little girl that is loved by so many people.
July 4th, we spent the weekend in F-town with the family. We had a little party at Grampa's that was a lot of fun. Good to see friends and family come together for a good time.
A few weeks ago, we went to the Guadalupe River for another family weekend. So much fun! All the boys enjoyed learning to kayak. We had wonderful food, and just good family worship time. (Actually, lot's of story telling was going on.)
The rest of the summer was spent with out of town family that came at different times throughout the past 2 and a half months for visits. We spent a lot of time hanging out with all of them drinking, talking, eating, and playing cards.
But, now it is time to get back to reality, and set schedules as school starts in just over a week. T-man is super excited about starting the First grade. He is counting the days down. We still do not know who his teacher will be, but I am sure that whomever he is placed with, will do an excellent job in teaching our eager child. Not only will he be starting First grade, but he has decided that he wants to play soccer again this fall. P and I will be working Aggie home football games as ushers for a little extra spending money at Christmas time.
We have a full Fall coming up, but it is going to be good.

T-manisms
P had a horrible evening Tuesday. He was at a yard mowing when his mower decided to, well for the lack of better terms, take a crap in the middle of the yard. Huge mower, sitting in the middle of, thankfully, his great-aunt's yard, and would not start. So, he had to come-along the mower out of the yard to the street to be loaded back on to the trailer. Then, called a friend to help get the mower up the ramps onto the trailer, so that the mower could be hauled to the repair shop the next day only to be told that a fuse that helps to keep the battery charged had blown.
Back to the story at hand. P swung by the house to eat dinner, and then he was going to run the lawn equipment back out the barn for the night. Before he left, T-man asked his dad to start his shower for him. And away they went. When T-man was finished with his shower, he hollered at me that he was done.
When I got the bathroom to turn the water off, the conversation went a little like this.
T-man: Momma, can we go to Hollywood to see Taylor Swift. (Son is very much infatuated by Miss Swift.)
Me: No, sweetie. We cannot got to Hollywood to see Taylor Swift.
T-man: Well, why not?
Me: Because, Hollywood is too far away from here.
T-man: Well, you know, we can take an airplane there.
Me: Yes, I know, but we are not going to Hollywood on an airplane to see Taylor Swift.
T-man: But I have never been on an airplane, and I want to go.
Me: I'm sorry, T-man, but we are just not going to go. And besides, some day you will ride in a plane. I promise.
The child is too smart for his (or mine for that matter) own good.

Thursday T-manisms
Me: T-man, did you have fun at the movies?
T-man: Yes.
Me: What movie do you all go see?
T-man: We went and saw that movie Pirates of the Vegitarians. (Vegie Tale Pirates)
____________________________________________________________________________
Me: T-man, you about ready to go take a shower.
T-man: No. I don't feel like it tonight.
Me: So, you like being the stinky kid.
T-man: Yes. That's my man stink.

Ramblings
______________________________________________________
At lunch today, I was driving through our large, yet small town. I was behind a car that was driving just under the speed limit when all of a sudden said car decided that it was a good idea to come to a screeching halt in the middle of the road. That made me wonder. What goes through people's brains as they are driving, especially in a speed zone of 55? Come on people! Get your head in the game. How hard is it to drive the speed limit without coming to a complete stop in the middle of the road? Thank goodness, I could get around this person, all the while, blowing my horn at this crazed person. I just don't understand.

Today at this very moment while I sit here typing, our God Daughter is being born into our world. Mom and Dad have been at the hospital since 1 A.M. T-man is super excited (as is all the family) that he will have a God Sister by the time I pick him up today from the summer program that he is very much enjoying.
______________________________________________________
UGH! Why does it have to be so freakin' hot outside? I know that it is summer, but seriously, who decided that the temperature should jump from a nice pleasant 90 degrees one day to a miserable 104 degrees the very next day? My yard and AC are paying dearly for this lovely Texas heat that we are having right now. I wish that I could get paid to just sit in the pool so that I don't have to be hot going from the truck to the office, back to the truck to the house.

See, I warned you in the beginning that I have nothing to say. Oh, well! That is just how I role. Here's a picture to enjoy for the day. Happy Thursday!

Festival and Fun
I found a couple worth mentioning. My first wine that I encountered and thought that I might purchase in the future was made right here in BCS at Messina Hof. This Riesling was good, and my friends were very excited when I told them that I liked it.
What a great time the day was, and the evening was good, too. The entertainment for the evening was Earl Thomas Conley, followed by Robert Earl Keen. Later in the evening, the guys met us at the Festival, and I think they had fun, too.
Wine, Beer, Music and friends........need I say more!Friday, May 29, 2009

Kindergarten, T-ball, Boot Camp
In the conference paperwork that she sent home yesterday, she gave Tman several accolades from his academia being right on track or higher to his peers considering him to be a great friend. What an honor it was to read all the glowing reviews she had for my sweet little boy, who also came home from school yesterday with a sad face because his behavior was terrible. We all have bad days, it seems, and thankfully, he has only averaged 2 per 6-weeks. (Insert the happy dance here.)
How I am not yet ready for this year to be over because it doesn't seem possible that my son is old enough to be out of Kindergarten, he is super excited that he will be a full fledged 1st grader in August when school starts again. As Tman told me yesterday, "I am SOOOO totally ready for 1st grade!"
___________________________________________________________
T-Ball has been so much fun. Tman has really enjoyed every minute of it, and Coach D is awesome with the kids. He and his family are great people that I am thankful that we have come to know and be-friended. P and I have enjoyed working with all the boys on the team.
Tman has played almost every position on the field, and I think that the positions that are his favorite are 1st and 3rd bases. He hasn't played Pitcher, yet, so I don't know if he will like that position or not, but then again, he loves the sport, so I am sure that he will love Pitcher, too.

Boot Camp is going great except for the ankle injury that flared up last month and will not go away no matter what I do.. I can see a difference in my clothes and how I feel since I have been working out. The class is so much fun, even though it is extremely early in the morning and hard as all get out from time to time. But, I keep working because I want to better myself so that I can have more fun with Tman and P. This week is the start of week 3 in month 2. I inadvertently forgot to set my alarm yesterday, and didn't make it to class. I felt like crap all day for not working out. But, I intend on keeping this up till I have lost all the weight or most of the weight that I am wanting to shed.

Bootcamp Update
When I last posted, I talked about how I had started bootcamp on March 23, so I was beginning week 2 of the 4 week process. It was a great experience. This coming from a person that cannot stand to work out. Yes, I am the couch potato of women. When I signed up, it was a 2 month commitment. This past Sunday we weighed and measured for the start of the second month. I am very happy to report that I lost 8.7 pounds and 3 inches everywhere. I still have a long road a head of me, but this is definitely a start.

Week 1 of my Fitness Journey & T-Ball
So, Monday wasn't too terribly bad. We did a lot of push ups and crunches. Along with walking/running. (Me not being a runner, chose to walk.) Wednesday, was a little harder. Friday, we sprinted. Hello.....not a runner here. On the off days of Tuesday and Thursday, Dixie, our chocolate lab, and I walked about a mile each morning. I was going to walk over the weekend, but laziness took control and didn't let go. Plus, it was crazy cold here.
Week two started today. It was very hard. We had to get a partner, and one of us sat in the squat position while the other ran 50 steps. Once the partner stopped, the other person who was squatting had to run to the partner and then 50 steps passed that person. Yes, my shins were killing me by the end of our hour workout. But I am ok. I will keep getting better as the time goes by.

T-man has been practicing very hard these past few weeks with his t-ball. He is so very excited about his upcoming season, which officially gets underway this coming Saturday. We have to be at the fields at 9:30 Saturday morning for pictures. Then T-man plays his first game at 11:30. Opening ceremonies follow at 1, and the final game of the day follows that at 3:30. It is going to be a long, but fun day for us all.
Go Owls!

Fitness Boot Camp
My goal, as of right now, is to lose at least 20 lbs between tomorrow morning and the weekend of June 13. (If I lose more, YEA me!) Why might you ask am I wanting to lose between these two dates? Well, the answer is very simple. We have a wedding that we are going to that weekend, and the dress attire is formal, semi-formal. That means that Miss Jeans and T-shirt is going to have to wear a dress. I am NOT going to pour this horrible body into a dress until I have met this first goal.
My over all goal of weight loss is to shed 70 pounds all together. I haven't set a time frame for this part of my weight loss, and probably should. But I think that I should just take it one day at a time, and see how that goes.
You, ole faithful viewers, will get to see my progress in my posts, as I plan to use this as my journal of my adventure. I think that this will not only be challenging (especially exercising so freaking early in the morning) but hopefully really fun. I, however, will not be taking pictures along the way because I cannot embarrass myself to that extent. I do not plan to tell you my weight from every weigh in either. I will just post how many pounds I have lost over the week. So this will more than likely turn out to be a weekly post.
Wish me luck!

Spring and Baseball
Monday night marked his first official practice of the season. And of course, we were the first ones to the fields. (We were just 20 minutes early.)

He had a blast practicing T-ball. They learned the different positions that are on the field. The practiced their throwing abilities and how to stop a ground ball with their bare hands. P will be one of the assistant coaches for the team, while I will be the team mom. I will get to sit in the dug out with the kids, trying to keep them in some sort of order, telling them when they are up to bat, and keeping the score. This is going to be so much fun. I think that we all can't wait.
This season, we are attending several Aggie Baseball games. This is always a fun thing for us to do as a family because we like baseball so much. Last night we attended the Cal-State Fullerton game. While we were there, the game was a very competitive game. We left at the top of the 6th inning (school night and all), which was a good thing, because Cal-State walked all over A&M after we left.
As we move forward with T-ball, I will try to update everyone on the team's wins, loses, and just plain excitement of 13 little 5 and 6 year old boys. Plus, I will add some commentary of Aggie Baseball. WHOOP!

Life....
I left off with T-man starting Kindergarten and loving it. Well, he still does. Now he is counting down to 1st grade. Yes, my child, who isn't through with Kindergarten is ready to make the next step in his little life to 1st grade.
In the Fall, we all joined the local Soccer Club. I was on the board, T-man played, and P and I both coached T-man's team. T-man had fun, but I really feel that soccer just isn't his sport. He has always been in love with Baseball. He started throwing the baseball before he could walk. Once he started walking, he would mimic his dad and baseball players on TV. He watched their every move. How they would stand. How they held the bat, and how they swung the bat. He picked all this up on his own. Not much help from us.
I mentioned that I was on the board. Past tense here. I joined so that I could be a part of T-man's adventure and so that I could volunteer with helping the kids in our community. I didn't know that when I signed up to help that it was going to take every single second of my "spare" time that I had. The organization could be a great organization if ran by the proper people. That is all that I will say about that. To say that least, I am no longer on the board, P isn't coaching, and according to our very smart child, he quits cause he wants to play baseball.
Christmas came and went. It was a good time for all of us. We spent a lot of time with relatives which is always good.
In January, T-man was in a wedding. Ask him, he was the Ring man, and not the Ring bearer. HA! HA!

He did an awesome job. He was reluctant at first during the rehearsal, but once he had a chance to get to know everyone, he did a great job. I was so proud of my little man.
Now we are preparing for T-ball season. We haven't heard from a coach, yet, but I know that we will in the next week or so, and once we do, we will be consumed with T-ball from now until the middle of June. I can't wait! T-man is going to have so much fun playing the sport that he loves.
T-man will also be in another wedding this coming June for a couple that we are great friends with. He adores them, and I know that he will do just as good in their wedding as he did in the one that he was in in January.
That is all that I have to share for now. I hope that catches everyone up with our lives. I hope to keep up with this a little more, but I am making no promises of the sort.
